United Nations High Commission for Refugees says it is disappointing that the UK has chosen a course of action aimed at deterring the seeking of asylum by relegating most refugees to a new, lesser status with few rights and a constant threat of removal.
UNHCR believes the UK’s Nationality and Borders Act will penalise most refugees seeking asylum in the country, creating an asylum model that undermines established international refugee protection rules and practices.
